Great Words by Great People

Albert Einstein:

"Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world."

"Few are those who see with their own eyes and feel with their own hearts."

Ralph Waldo Emerson:

"All true greatness must come from internal growth."

Benjamin Franklin:

"Whatever is begun in anger ends in shame."

John F. Kennedy:

" Efforts and courage are not enough without purpose and direction."

Memories to be cherished

Given a chance everyone will want to go back to their childhood. That’s the only period where we didn’t have any tensions other than the exam tensions at time. Mom and dad would take care of everything and you just go to school, come home, play with your friends and do your homework, eat and sleep.

I wasn’t getting sleep yesterday night and was recollecting my childhood memories. Here I am to pen it... Let me start with my Primary school memories..
L.K.G
Whenever I utter this word it just brings a smile on my face. That is the first class you step in. I don remember my first day in the school. I do remember few things though.. Now, my sister’s kid is studying in L.K.G and I love listening to the stories what he does in school. 3 ½ years old and you carry a schoolbag and water bottle and go to school... So cute..

I went with him on his first day to school. I was more worried than my sister how is he going to manage. There were so many kids and most of them had already started to cry and the teachers. . they definitely need patience. Kids did not want to leave their mom and vice versa... teachers telling the parents to be out of that place so they can control the kids.. Looking at all this, I definitely did not want to leave him alone and step away. But, I had to. My nephew is a good boy. He did not cry at all. The class went only for an hour and he enjoyed it. He was the last person to come out of the class... Me and my sister came home and narrated this to my mom and dad. My dad then said “even you didn’t cry on your first day to school” So I was also a gud girl.

Coming to my L.K.G experience, I do not remember my teacher’s name but I can definitely say she was very kind and she had all the patience in the world. Most of the times we played in the class and our class were next to the HM room. That is the same class where my sister studied.
Then after few months they said that they were going to shift our class to another building due to some construction work. I wasn’t ready to leave the class and I thought they are going to put me in a different school as they didn’t change my sister’s classroom. My mom and teachers had a tough time with me as I ran out of the class many times. Finally they won and I started going to the new class. I do remember that I used to go to the HM room during my lunch breaks and sing songs and rhymes and collect chocolates from her.

I thought I will be able to write till my 5th std memories. However, my L.K.G story was a quite long story and hence rest to be continued...

Apple Halwa

I am still a beginner to cooking. I had prepared only the normal dishes sambhar, rasam and curries. Now that I have time I am trying out new recipes from various sites. Thought will post it so I do not forget it later.

The first sweet recipe I tried other than payasam was rava ladoo. The next one was Apple Halwa. I found the Apple Halwa interesting so lemme start with that first.

Ingredients:
· Apple – 2 Nos
· Sugar - ½ cup
· Ghee – little bit
· Cardamom – little bit
· Cashew - 10
Method:
· Peel the apples and grate them
· Heat ghee in a thick bottomed pan and add the grated apples.
· Keep it on medium flame till the apple is cooked and the water is evaporated.
· Now, add sugar and mix it occasionally till the mixture thickens. Towards the end have to stir it continuously, If not it sticks to the bottom.
· Finally add Cardamom Powder and cashew and mix it.

Mooshika vahana

Mooshika Vahana:

Mooshika vaahana modhaha hastha

Chamara karna vilambitha suthra

Vamana rupa maheswara puthra

Vigna vinayaga padha namaste

Meaning:

He who has the mouse as the vahana, He who always keeps Modhaham (a traditional sweet made from coconut jaggery and rice that is rolled into a ball) He who has ears that resemble a hand held fan. He who wears a chain-like ornament around his waist, He who is short statured, He who is the son of Lord Parameshwara. O! Lord Vinayaka who is all the above and he who always anulls all impediments, We worship your Divine Feet.
